Purple Hibiscus ***SPOILER ALERT***



  Purple Hibiscus is a very tough book to read sometimes. It's one of those books that tugs at your heart. The children and the mother go through so much abuse that you wish you could just call out to Jaja and Kambili and send them the help they deserve. When Papa poured boiling water on his children's feet, it made me upset that there are actual children in the world today who are stuck in homes where there is domestic abuse. Even though it is just a book, it sickens me that no one else in the book cares to turn Papa in for the physical and emotional damage he is causing for them. I'm aware that people abuse others and get away with it because of who they are and maybe that's why I get so upset reading this.


     I especially feel terrible for Mama. She has lost her baby twice to Papa beating her and I can only imagine what women who are married to abusers feel. The first time he beat her with her bare hands and dragged her across the floor. The second time, he threw a heavy wooden table at her belly.

    I agree with you that Purple Hibiscus is a very tough book to read. I also feel bad for Mama and the kids and I am glad that they got out of that situation.

    I didn't like the book for a while because I didn't like reading about Papa's abuse. It seems they didn't know it could be different. They thought since the Public thought Papa was good, he must be good. That meant they must deserve his punishments.

    I agree with you that it's a hard book to read. I cringed every time the book would describe Papa's abuse. I am glad they finally got out of that lifestyle. Nice blog!

Last year, I made a best friend. His name was Cole. Cole was the funniest, sweetest, weirdest, most adorable and aggravating person I had ever met. After about a week, we automatically had figured out that eighth grade wouldn't be so terrible if we stuck together. Cole and I went through ups, downs, and even in betweens. He was the greatest thing to ever happen to me.   One day, I got a phone call from Cole saying he was moving to Atlanta. I thought it was a joke at first but as months went on it became a reality to me that I only had so many weeks until my other half moved away. May 26, 2017 was the last day I saw my best friend. These last few months have been heartbreaking because I haven't had my best friend in so long. Thankfully though on January 26, 2018 I will be taking a trip to Atlanta to see my best friend. There we will exchange Christmas gifts and missed birthday gifts.

Human Nature: Imperfections

   I believe humans are fundamentally meant to be flawed. We all make mistakes which then lead to us learning our lesson, but then turning back to do it again. We all turn towards others for advice and still make the wrong decisions. It's like its an unintentional program in humans minds to make mistakes before we grow from them. But I've also learned that we bounce back even harder from our mistakes when we try again   One time, I was working on having better time management skills. I was practicing writing assignments down and even cutting down my social time. Well eventually I got bored with this new routine and gave up. So I began to be lazy and not turn assignments in on time. After a couple weeks of nothing my lazy streak, I picked backup the pace and finished the class with an A. I realized I wasn't perfect, but I still had to do the best I could so that my imperfections wouldn't label who I was.
