Strengths and weaknesses



   This year, I have learned a lot about my strengths and weaknesses as a writer. Sometimes writing can either be very fun or very challenging for me. One of my strengths and being able to cite and quote properly. It took me a while to catch on, but now I know enough to help someone else. I'm still working on good traits but I have gotten better, Lastly I've mastered being able to expand my vocabulary and grammar in my writing. I've learned where to put certain words and where to start to check for grammar issues.


   One of my main weaknesses would have to be understanding rhetoric situation. Sometimes I forget that if I am assigned to certain audience, that my word choice should reflect upon that. Another weakness I have  is forgetting to read over my work. Sometimes I type so fast that I slip up. My biggest issue that I have grown from but still have trouble with is writing how you talk. Especially with formal papers. I tend to slip up with that too.

    I had trouble with reading over my papers, too. However one of my strengths is noticing the rhetoric situation. Good post!

    I am not sure if I can cite properly. I always forget to read over my work.

My best friend

Last year, I made a best friend. His name was Cole. Cole was the funniest, sweetest, weirdest, most adorable and aggravating person I had ever met. After about a week, we automatically had figured out that eighth grade wouldn't be so terrible if we stuck together. Cole and I went through ups, downs, and even in betweens. He was the greatest thing to ever happen to me.   One day, I got a phone call from Cole saying he was moving to Atlanta. I thought it was a joke at first but as months went on it became a reality to me that I only had so many weeks until my other half moved away. May 26, 2017 was the last day I saw my best friend. These last few months have been heartbreaking because I haven't had my best friend in so long. Thankfully though on January 26, 2018 I will be taking a trip to Atlanta to see my best friend. There we will exchange Christmas gifts and missed birthday gifts.

Purple Hibiscus ***SPOILER ALERT***

  Purple Hibiscus is a very tough book to read sometimes. It's one of those books that tugs at your heart. The children and the mother go through so much abuse that you wish you could just call out to Jaja and Kambili and send them the help they deserve. When Papa poured boiling water on his children's feet, it made me upset that there are actual children in the world today who are stuck in homes where there is domestic abuse. Even though it is just a book, it sickens me that no one else in the book cares to turn Papa in for the physical and emotional damage he is causing for them. I'm aware that people abuse others and get away with it because of who they are and maybe that's why I get so upset reading this.      I especially feel terrible for Mama. Human Nature: Imperfections

   I believe humans are fundamentally meant to be flawed. We all make mistakes which then lead to us learning our lesson, but then turning back to do it again. We all turn towards others for advice and still make the wrong decisions. It's like its an unintentional program in humans minds to make mistakes before we grow from them. But I've also learned that we bounce back even harder from our mistakes when we try again   One time, I was working on having better time management skills. I was practicing writing assignments down and even cutting down my social time. Well eventually I got bored with this new routine and gave up. So I began to be lazy and not turn assignments in on time. After a couple weeks of nothing my lazy streak, I picked backup the pace and finished the class with an A. I realized I wasn't perfect, but I still had to do the best I could so that my imperfections wouldn't label who I was.
