Roses are red Violets are blue I'm super excited that school will be over soon I'm sick of tests, exams, and homework I can't wait until until its summer, where there will be no work. I will sleep and eat and lounge all day I cannot wait until the day day where I rest away. I can play and I can laugh I can have more fun. I cannot wait for the day where I can be under all day. Under the sun

Purple Hibiscus

As I've been reading the book Purple Hibiscus, I've noticed that one of the main characters, Papa, is very controlling. He does this by commanding his children to be the best in their class, abusing the mother, and he sublimely controlling the people around him. It becomes so unhealthy to some of the family that it shows in their actions. I'm not here to summarize the main character "Papa". I'm actually here to encourage others to think about how Papa's actions will affect others actions towards him?    Will the two children eventually rise together and fight back against their tyrant like father? Will the mother ever feel that she is worthy enough to pack up and leave? Will she ever be able to conceive another child? Or maybe possibly will Papa have a change of heart? Hopefully some of these questions will be answered as we continue throughout the book.

Song lyrics

I picked Umbrella by Jay Z and Rihanna because as a child the song was very catchy.  Umbrella by JAY Z and Rihanna http://www.metrolyrics.com/umbrella-lyrics-rihanna.html "Because when the sun shines, we'll shine together"  (Hyperbole- no one can shine as if they were the sun) "Told you I'll be here forever" (Hyperbole- forever is a long time. It is used to exaggerate the lyrics)  "When the world has dealt its cards" (metaphor- the world cannot actually deal cards) (personification) Hyperbole is used to exaggerate the song. Shining as if you were the sun and and being with someone "forever" is completely impossible. The writer wanted to show that even when times seem unrealistic they would be there.  Metaphor is something else used to exemplify something. The world dealing its cards is an example of life being difficult.  Personification is taking an inanimate object and making it do people like things. The world &quo

Poem

Why must we tear down others? Why must be rude to those different than us? Why must we bend rules that are not meant to be broken? Why can't we appreciate those who do their best to please us daily Why can't society accept that we are all different? I myself am still learning. Maybe my experiences can teach others. Maybe I can learn from others. Maybe, just maybe. TECHNIQUES: ANAPHORA- repetition of same word ENJAMBMENT-  a run on line

Free Post

This weekend,  I had the craziest flu like symptoms of my life. I had never encountered the flu before, and I hope to never have it again. I never knew it could be that bad. I laid in the same spots for over 3 days. I didn't even get up to eat. The only time I got up were for hygiene issues and to open my blinds. I took so many different kinds of medicine that I can't even recall them all. I don't have all the same symptoms as before yet I'm still fatigue and get super cold from time to time.    Despite my illnesses, I caught up on a lot of sleep. I also caught up on a lot  of missed tv shows that I had previously recorded. It would have been better if I could've been able to eat but it was okay. I also watched a lot of makeup tutorials on the internet. For once, I actually sat down and studied for hours for Biology. Now I feel super prepared for my test tomorrow on protein synthesis.

Espresso Yourself// Launch Day

"Espresso Yourself" by Ngan was my absolute favorite presentation on Launch Day. To start off, I walked in the room to the warm smells of coffee beans. What next caught my attention, was the pretty lights along the walls that were flickering. Finally, the beanbags added the perfect touch to cafĂ© feel. I was so tired of sitting in boring, uncomfortable chairs that it was relieving to give my back a break. Ngan did a wonderful job of telling why coffee was so important to her. I related because growing up, my parents never gave me much coffee.     Another presentation that was pretty decent was the comparison of Martin Luther King to American cult and serial killers. At first when I heard this, I was very confused. How could this girl compare two different people with two completely different goals. When she finished, it somewhat made sense. She said they all persuaded people to follow them for their cause and persuade others to do the same. I wouldn't have though
