Police Brutality: Stephen Clark autopsy

Frances Robles and Jose Del. A Real created an article on the New York Times page telling an audience some of the reasons of why Stephon Clark was shot eight times in his during a police raid. the two authors start off with stating the police's version of the story. The police stated they felt Clark had a firearm in his hand, which caused them to advance with eight shots that somehow landed in his back and torso. The family of Stephon Clark hired someone to do an independent autopsy which led to several questions from the community. Questions arose such as "How could Clark have been a threat if he was shot in the back? Wouldn't that mean that his back was turned in a prey stance instead of predatory stance? "The police department then came back with the response of Clark was turning around which led to the shots that landed in his back. This back and forth debate of who was wrong in this situation has caused an uproar throughout many cities.  The article also states that there is a possibility that Clark's life could have been saved if the police had seemed medical treatment faster. There was no real medical evidence that he would still survived after the other rounds of shots, but doctors feel it could've helped have a peace of mind.

When it comes to police brutality cases where it's police against black men and women, I try not to jump to conclusions simply because I'm black. I do believe that there are good policemen out in the world trying to keep cities safe. Yet I also feel as police officer, you should know that you signed up to face danger. The young man, Stephon Clark, should not have been shot eight times simply because of a tip that someone was vandalizing cars in the neighborhood.

This article was interesting to me because I like to keep up with what's going in the media. I've realized that sometimes, the media doesn't tell you everything they should, so it's our job as a member of the African American community to keep myself and others informed. I found this article on "New York Times".
